|Australia's largest Swiss Festival comes to Queensbridge Square, Sunday October 9-
The president of the Swiss Festival, Mr. Rolf Huber, together with the Honorary Consul of Switzerland in Victoria Mrs. Manuela Erb today finalized arrangements for the 2016 Swiss Festival to be held at Queensbridge Square this Sunday 9th October.
This Year’s event will be the third and biggest Swiss Festival to take place in Melbourne’s Southbank, just across the Yarra river from Melbourne’s CBD.
The Festival will commence at 11am and go through to 5pm.
‘The Festival is the highlight of the year for the Swiss community in Victoria’, Mrs. Erb said ‘plus an opportunity for us to bring our culture to Victorians.’
In addition to Swiss cheese, sausages and chocolates, there will be a Swiss beer and wine bar to satisfy pangs of hunger and thirst.
If you have never heard yodeling or Alphorn blowing, here is your chance to come up close to the traditions of Switzerland and enjoy a pleasant day with friends and family.
‘For the children, we have organized a Swiss Myths and Legends Treasure hunt, complete with some very good prizes; chocolate of course’ said Mrs. Erb.
The highlight of the festival is a Swiss carnival band from New Zealand.
The Guggenmusik Auckland are a unique Swiss type carnival band, that plays music, somewhat out of tune. The band dresses up as green frogs. Why frogs you have to ask? Because you can! The music is eclectic and has to be heard to be believed.
The Swiss Festival is coordinated by a group of expats who enjoy indulging in and sharing their Swiss Culture.
Saturday 8th September at 3pm, 89 Flinders Lane, Melbourne.
The GUGGENMUSIK Auckland will be filming a video clip as part of their Swiss Festival Tour in Melbourne’s iconic laneways next to the Swiss Club of Victoria.
The media is invited to attend, for photo, video and interview opportunities.
